Did Hamilton create the Miami Grand Prix?

Only four years late but it seems like Formula One took Lewis Hamilton's advice since he wished for the Miami Grand Prix back in 2017.
It took place during a press conference at the Australian Grand Prix where drivers were asked what they wish the then new owners, Liberty Media, would add to the sport.

Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo immediately responded saying "Race in Vegas. I've said mine." Whereas for Hamilton, it took him some thought, but he eventually added "Miami race! That would be a good one."

Ricciardo's suggestion would not be in vain however, with the Las Vegas Grand Prix soon to be on the F1 calendar in 2023, adding to what will now be three races in the States.

Ahead of the inaugural Miami Grand Prix this Sunday, the story could not be more different for Hamilton ever since he made the suggestion. But it's clear the Brit holds power in the decision making in F1, purely down to his unrivalled following and gravity.

However, it seems this year the seven-time World Champion has been pegged back, struggling in a car lacking any sort of competitive pace to stay with the front runners, already conceding "I'm out of the championship, for sure."

Strange to hear for some, but four rounds into the 2022 Formula One season, Mercedes are still yet to produce a solution for their clear issues that are hampering their progress this year, and following a stagnant Imola Grand Prix, it appears Hamilton has let go of his record-breaking Championship aspirations in 2022.

Though it's clear to see that if he cannot make a great impact on track, he will certainly make one off it, as Hamilton's enthusiastic suggestion four years ago, has come to fruition as this Sunday Formula One holds it maiden Grand Prix in South Beach.
