Red Bull have the edge over Ferrari following Miami Grand Prix

Following back-to-back wins for Max Verstappen and Red Bull, the Austrian based team seem to have gained the upper hand in the championship, despite still being behind in both respective standings.
In a weekend where the build-up to the race weekend perhaps outshone the race itself, reigning World Champion Verstappen clawed more ground back to championship leader Charles Leclerc, after overtaking the Ferrari man on lap nine.

And despite how close the two teams and drivers seem to be, a significant advantage in Red Bull's favour was made drastically transparent on Sunday night. It was clear Ferrari were lacking to Red Bull in terms of straight-line speed even before Miami, but it couldn't have been made clearer as we went lights out in South Florida.

Leclerc got off to a good start off the line, but unfortunately for him, his teammate Carlos Sainz could not hold second, and Verstappen was already on the heels of his championship rival. It did not take the Dutchman long, and Red Bull's raw horsepower proved vital, sweeping past Leclerc down the start finish straight.

Ferrari have a great race car this year, particularly through low-speed corners, where they are able to gain time on the Red Bull's but on a power circuit like Miami, Red Bull's advantage when the drivers hit the power proved to be too much.

Even when Leclerc was able to stay within DRS range of Verstappen, the Red Bull had too much of an advantage where it mattered, and the Monegasque could not get back at his long-time rival. Having the advantage down the straights could prove to be crucial in the championship, and Ferrari will have their work cut out for them if they are not able to close the gap.

This is not to say Ferrari cannot show off their advantages in the coming weeks, particularly when we head to Monaco, which certainly favours their car momentarily. However, the contrast in speed could prove costly for Ferrari, who will look to strike back when we head to Barcelona in just under two week's time.
